And besides that, I have to celebrate/announce/getsweatyinmyarmpitsabout the fact that I've decided to re-open the old Etsy shop! (OLD. I'm talking, it's been awhile- like since before I got an iPhone and before anyone knew Mitt was a name.)
I bet you will be shocked and flabbergasted to find out that I'm selling....
....these. Are you sick of them yet? People seem to be partial to nostalgia in felt form at Christmas time. We'll see if their wallets are equally partial. Am I taking down the free pattern and tutorial for these? No way. You should still make them for yourselves and for your Christmas gifts if you want to. Just don't do other things that might be considered mean by most humans.
But for YOU today, no wallets need be involved if you would like to try to win your own set! All 7 hand stitched felt ornaments can be yours, just enter by leaving me a comment telling me what your favorite Christmas TV special was growing up. Obviously, it doesn't have to be CB, there are many good ones to choose from. I'll choose a winner at random by Friday.
A second random winner will get a full yard of this amazing fabric called Drop Cloth in Plum by Jay McCarroll for FreeSpirit. I am lucky enough to have 2 yards of it. One for me, one for you.
If you are new here from Sew Mama Sew, I'll hope you'll take a minute to look around A Little Gray. My name is Jessica and I sew A LOT. I've got a few new Christmas patterns and tutorials on the right sidebar there, just click on the pictures to see more. I've also got some other tutorials in the tab on top, mostly related to kids clothing. I sew very often for my 2 kids Hendrix and Elsie. If you want to see some of that stuff, you should check out the things I made for the sewing and design competition Project Run & Play. Or look at the movie-inspired kids clothing I've made in an ongoing series with Kristin called Film Petit. (We have a REALLY good one coming up in the next couple weeks!!!) I make a lot of quilts and smaller projects as well. I hope you'll poke around and make yourself known.
So thanks for coming over from Giveaway Day, I can't wait to read your comments. I'll be stitching up your ornaments while I do!
- Leave a comment about your have Christmas movie or tv special.
- Make sure your email address is in your comment or blogger account.
- One entry per person, two random winners by Friday.
- U.S. entries only please.
**** also be sure to check out the OTHER giveaway I have going on today for Go To Patterns!****
Daggonit, I didn't know about this give-away day! I'll have to remember for next year...
ReplyDeleteAnywho! Favorite Christmas show of all time is "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer"!!! I love the elf who wanted to be a dentist. :)
Charlie Brown Christmas was!!! I was just telling my husband last night how much I loved it and was wishing it was on!
ReplyDeleteI love these Jessica! My boys flipped when they saw them and I swear I was going to make them myself but . . . since there might be a chance to win them . . .
ReplyDeleteMy favorite moving growing up was definitely "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas". I wanted to be Amy Lou Who
My favorite movie is the rudolf one - ya know, the one with the snowman that is oh so conviently placed to the right of my comment box. It used to be on TV all the time? Ha. How that was clear as mud!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome! I loved all the holiday Charlie Brown shows, but I really liked A Christmas Story. The whole bunny onesie and the "you'll shoot your eye out" thing always made me smile.
ReplyDeleteFor me it's a toss up between Garfield Christmas (which they sadly never seem to show anymore) and Twas the Night Before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love the marathon showing of A Christmas Story!
ReplyDeleteI love these ornaments, and Charlie Brown is my favorite special for all the holidays! And the Grinch :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas special was always Charlie Brown! I love Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer as well!
ReplyDeleteThese ornaments are just too cute! Mickeys Christmas Carol is my favorite holiday movie. Wish they would still play it on TV so my kids could watch it.
ReplyDeleteI love the Charlie Brown Christmas and Frosty the Snowman. I still watch them around this time of year. Oh, I also love "It's a Wonderful Life."
ReplyDeletePunky Brewster was my all time favorite show. I somehow missed out on the habitat but love that line and pick it up when I can find it.
ReplyDeleteI love Charlie Brown Christmas! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeletemjp0419 at gmail dot com
I have to go with A Christmas Story...you'll shoot your eye out kid.
ReplyDeletei love charlie brown -- that scene with linus on the stage? i cry every time.
ReplyDeleteI loved the claymation Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer. My 3 year old daughter, however, is in LOVE love love with Charlie Brown - we watched the Great Pumpkin at Halloween, the Thanksgiving Special at Thanksgiving, and now Charlie Brown Christmas is on at least weekly (with the soundtrack on much more often). Anyhow, she would love these, I would love these (and even if I don't win I'm totally going to scope out the tutorial - fun!!)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter (she's 3) is in love with the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. I personally loved Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer every year. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThe ornaments are really cute. I think growing up I liked most shows, but I do like Frosty the Snowman and Charlie Brown's Christmas.
ReplyDeleteRudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteLove that fabric, very mod!!
oh man. I would love these since I am already overwhelmed making gifts AND rudolph inspired stockings!
ReplyDeleteYes, it was always Rudolph.
My favorite Christmas movie is Christmas Vacation, but my favorite thing to catch on tv is The Year Without Santa Claus (Snow Miser and Heat Miser, lol). :)
ReplyDeletedestlair(at)yahoo(dot)com
A Christmas Story, always classic!
ReplyDeleteIt's a toss up for me between Love Actually and Christmas Vacation....depends on my mood.
ReplyDeleteI always liked seeing any version of "the Nutcracker"! My husband LOVES Charlie Brown Christmas though and I'm pretty sure I already pinned your ornaments and was planning to stitch some up. Winning them would sure save me some work! lol.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is A Christmas Story, though I also catch Elf and White Christmas every year
ReplyDeleteI printed your template out yesterday with visions of making them, but I'd love to win some right from the horses mouth much more! Favorite Christmas special = Home Alone. But I've always had a soft spot for It's A Wonderful Life too.
ReplyDeleteOne...two...ten.
Definitely A Christmas Story. No second thoughts about that! I've managed to collect so many of them on DVD or Blu Ray though so rather than waiting for them to come on tv I just pop one in whenever I want to (usually in October). I just watched The Charlie Brown Christmas 2 weekends ago!
ReplyDeleteFawn
Charlie Brown's Christmas is hands down my fav and my bff - I will never be sick of seeing your sweet set of ornaments and am making a set for my bff - would love to win a set for myself ! lol thank you and good luck opening the old etsy shop!
ReplyDeleteFrosty the Snowman :)
ReplyDeleteA Christmas Story - I'm a child of the 80's, what can I say? And, of course, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation! Love your ornaments, they are super cute, I'm very glad to have found your site!
ReplyDeleteMy personal favorites are either The Christmas Story or Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas! As a family we love to watch Elf together and already have at least 6 times since our tree went up a week ago!! I'd love to see those ornaments on there! ;)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas movie is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. That movie cracks me up every time I see it!
ReplyDeleteI love watching the Home Alone movies at Christmas time :)
ReplyDeleteCute ornaments!!! :) The shows I most remember from growing up are Rudolph and Frosty. Now I like the Grinch and Elf. :)
ReplyDeleteOMG I love these ornaments! My favorite movies were Charlie Brown and A Christmas Story. I'm working my way towards a tree full of handmade ornaments, these would be perfect on there! I'm pinning the tutorial in case I don't win. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteMy all-time favorite is Christmas Vacation. No matter how many times I've seen it, I laugh at the same stuff just as hard every time.
ReplyDeleteI still love Charlie Brown Christmas, and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. I sing along. It drives me kids nuts. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe always loved A Charlie Brown Christmas - and the Sesame Street christmas special with Big Bird, too.
ReplyDeleteI loved "The First Christmas" (little blind shepherd boy regains sight) and "Small One" (unwanted donkey ends up with a very important job). Apparently I like everyone to be at a slight disadvantage in my Christmas viewing...
ReplyDeleteI love Frosty. My sil would die for those ornaments!! Now would I rather win to give or win to keep and make something fun?? This could kill me!! jrae_228 at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteElf and 4 Christmases (and of course Rudolph and Charlie Brown!)
ReplyDeleteI love the movie Elf!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...it would have to be either Charlie Brown or Frosty the Snowman. Loved both of those! Now our tradition is to watch "A Christmas Story" every year. My brothers & I can just about quote the movie verbatim :)
ReplyDeletecharlie brown is pretty depressing when you watch it as a grown up. i grew up w no tv, so i'm not nostalgic for tv specials. i do really love our traditions of christmas eve, opening a present early. so fun!
ReplyDeleteLet's see......Charlie Brown, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph, Christmas Story, the Grinch ~ How to choose? We'll pick Charlie Brown because it is my son't too. Thanks for the giveaway. I saw the tutorial, and wondered if I had time to make them. Hopefully I won't have to!
ReplyDeleteI loved the Garfield Christmas special growing up (well...I still love it)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. I would LOVE these. I just saw your tutorial for these the other day but knew I wouldn't have time to make them myself before Christmas. I thought they were super cute.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite movie is still "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" - the original one although the one with Jim Carey is funny. I love "A Christmas Story" though too.
I was really into Frosty.
ReplyDeleteMy boys are obsessed (OBSESSED!!!) with the Peanuts right now. My oldest son (he's 8) would flip out if he found these ornaments in his stocking, so thanks for the chance!
Your ornaments are too cute! My favorite Christmas show is Rudolph. I love watching it and remembering my childhood and happy Christmas memories.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a wonderful and generous giveaway and a chance to win. Two winners! Woot! Woot! You Rock!
usairdoll(at)gmail(dot)com
I always loved watching Frosty the Snowman!
ReplyDeleteI can't remember what it's called--how ridiculous is that?--but it's the claymation one that begins with the orphaned Kris Kringle, follows him through his romance with Jessica (the future Mrs. Klaus) and introduced us to Bergermeister Meisterberger and the idea that kids pay Santa for toys with kisses. (Kind of creepy.) In a more classical tone, my favorite live action movie for the holidays is Holiday Inn.
ReplyDeleteThese ornaments are adorable! I'd love them for my tree. My favorite Christmas tv show growing up was the Peanuts Christmas special. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeletemvlouie99(at)yahoo(dot)com
I love the charlie brown christmas actually, especially the music. Can't believe you have the drop cloth fabric - awesome!
ReplyDeleteI have always loved Rudolph! So glad my kids do, too. And your ornaments are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love a Garfield Christmas and Charlie Brown Christmas. Does that mean a have a short attention span? lol
ReplyDeleteThe snowman, narrated by david bowie!
ReplyDeletemy favorite Christmas movie is the Family Man. I love both items you have up for the giveaway, so generous of you!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas TV special was Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
ReplyDeletelisa(at)vetteklisa(dot)com
ack!!! Those ornaments are seriously to die for!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tv special was Emmitt Otter's Jugband Christmas. It was actually a tv special before I was born, and my mom recorded it on vhs. I totally wore the VHS out! My favorite christmas movies are the tim allen Santa Clause trio now, but those were never a tv special :) I can go on alllllll day about Christmas movies!
Our family favorite is A Christmas Story!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday movie is Holiday Inn - it's the best, you seriously MUST watch it. Also, I LOVE these ornaments. How brilliant are you to think of them!!
ReplyDeleteelisabeth [dot] woo @gmail.com
Mickey's Christmas Carol! I finally got it in DVD last year.
ReplyDeletebeth(dot)sebastian(at)gmail(dot)com
Charlie Brown's Christmas!! Because of watching it as a kid, with the Dolly Madison commercials even. :)
ReplyDeleteThen it would hve to be Holiday Inn - because my parents would watch it with us and talk about war time and old movies and we'd all have cocoa.
Watched Frosty with my 16 year old son last week, somehow he managed to go 16 years without seeing it, and he loved it! I know, it's corney, but anything that makes him happy is great to me!
ReplyDeleteThose ornaments are awesome and so is that fabric. I loved all the Christmas cartoons that came on, I made sure to watch them all. I just tried to watch Rudolph for the first time with my almost 3year old and he wasn't interested (I could have cried but will try again next year). Thanks for the giveaway and chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI preferred Charlie Brown's "It's a great pumpkin"
ReplyDeleteFor Xmas I love the Grinch!
(I'd love those ornaments!! They rock!)
I still love "It's a Wonderful Life."
ReplyDeleteMy favorite has to be the original Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. It is classic.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Erin
emstone28@gmail.com
Charlie Brown! Same as my mama who will get these if I win.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I like to watch Christmas Vacation to get some laughs, but I think It's a Wonderful Life is my REAL favorite Christmas movie. :)

Kellytuttle@hotmail.com
I love Elf and A Christmas Story!
ReplyDeletepeachstateme (at) hotmail (dot) com
Seems like I should say Charlie Brown but I'm going with The Grinch
ReplyDeleteCharlie Brown Christmas is what my son asks for all the time. He's such a Charlie Brown fan!! (as am I). I always have to watch, "While you were Sleeping". heather738(@)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteHow can it not be CB?? I want these so badly!
ReplyDeleteCB was the favorite as a child, of course. As an adult though it has to be Elf. I am now in LOVE with your tree skirt! You had me at the ornaments... and then.... the tree skirt!!??!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy so many, but always look forward to Charlie Brown and White Christmas. Miss the Garfield Christmas special too, that was always good.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tutorial too, so if I don't win I can make my own, such cute ornaments.
I like the TV show with Burl Ives as the voice...maybe it was Rudulph. That was always a cute one. I'd love to be in the running for the yd of fabric! Thanks so much for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteFumy you should ask, today, anyway. My favorite Christmas special was, and always will be, A Charlie Brown Christmas. And here's where the funny part comes in: I work at a big box home improvement store, and we started playing Christmas music, interspersed with the regular music, the day after Thanksgiving. Which is nice, because it's not too much of a good thing, and hopefully I won't be sick of listening to it by the time Christmas gets here. Anyway, I had just announced to my co-workers that I was going to lunch, when all of a sudden I realized that the theme song from A Charlie Brown Christmas was on. I said, "I can't go to lunch now, I have to stay until this song is finished!" (I'm 52, in case you were wondering.) My co-workers cracked up. I love that song- it instantly brings to mind lots of good childhood memories. Your ornaments are so cute! My sister would love them. (She's an even bigger kid than I am.) Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the old, animated how the grinch stole Christmas. But I'm partial to Charlie Brown too. Both have great music!
ReplyDeletei like the grinch stole christmas, but thats the only christmas movie i watched. wait, thats not true. i watched the christmas carol and REALLY loved it. so the christmas carol it is!
ReplyDeletecorne.lia.roehrer (at) gmail.com

ReplyDeletersgrandinetti@yahoo(dot)com
Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer is definitely a favorite in our house, but Charlie Brown comes in a close second. I love your giveaway - I've been admiring the ornaments since your first posted them (sigh - I need to get better at hand sewing!), and I've been trying to find someplace that still has the purple drop cloth in stock!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was always The Grinch, though Miracle on 34th St. (the original) was a close second! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI totally pinned these! We love the Charlie Brown holiday videos.
ReplyDeleteMy fav is honestly Charlie Brown because at the very end they give the true meaning of Christmas… Christ! I love your blog!
ReplyDeletelisa.edmisson@gmail.com
Oh I love Charlie Brown too! Thanks for the giveaway and you have a lovely blog!
ReplyDeleteFrosty, Rudolph, how to choose?
ReplyDeleteHA! Those are SO cute. I love em.
ReplyDeleteI love It's a Wonderful Life the best. And Charlie Brown comes next. :)

My two faves are A Charlie Brown Christmas and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

ReplyDeleteSweet. They are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love that fabric! My fave movie is definitely A Christmas Story!
ReplyDeletewebduck27(at)comcast(dot)net
Does the series finale Christmas special of the UK Office count? When Tim takes Dawn into the conference room and you DON'T get to hear what he says...the best. For a more traditional, family friendly favorite - Muppet Christmas Carol.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is A Charlie Brown Christmas - a classic that still holds true.
ReplyDeleteThat Jay McCarroll fabric is some of my favorite! I've been drooling over it for months!. My favorite Christmas movie is probably Love Actually. Can you really beat Hugh Grant boogying to Jump?

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas special is the classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Charlie Brown as a close second! My email is kudra1978 at aol dot com.
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome! My mom has some wooden CB ornaments she made when she first got married and they've always been some of my favorites. My favorite Christmas special growing up was the Good King Wenceslas with Jonathan Brandis, but I think it might be one of those ones that doesn't age very well.
ReplyDeleteI loved and still love Nestor the Long-Eared Donkey. It is not a popular one, but it is still my favorite.

I also love A Christmas Story, it never gets old, and I think of You've Got Mail/Shop Around the Corner as Christmas movies, too--love them both.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite holiday movie, by far, is "It's a Wonderful Life." It's actually one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. It's been part of my Christmas eve tradition for years. I'm also pretty fond of "Elf."

ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation--classic!
ReplyDeleteAmy

I have so many favorites! Frosty is probably my favorite tv special! As far as oldies go, I love the original "Miracle on 24th Street". On a more recent note, one of my all-time favorite movies is "Love Actually"! Thank you so much for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is White Christmas!
ReplyDelete"This place reminds me of Santa's Workshop! Except it smells like mushrooms and everyone looks like they want to hurt me." Elf. By a million miles.

And I love all your xmas tuts. Your images are awesome. Thanks for sharing them all! We'll see if I can even get one done. I don't have many elves helping me out at the moment...
My favorite is A Charlie Brown Christmas so these are perfect. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteHome Alone :) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteOh, Jessica, it just is not Christmas without the original The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant. Forget that Whitney Houston mess (although Denzell is definitely easy on the eyes!) and give me the good old black and white. My favorite contemporary movie is Love Actually but I recommend Mixed Nuts with Steve Martin for you if you have not seen that quirky little nugget of cinematic escapism.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have a favorite as a kid, unless you counted any version of Little Women. Today, my favorites are Elf and Love Actually.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog - originally found you through PR&P. My favorite is It's a Wonderful Life, but I love these CB ornaments! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI could watch Love Actually all the time.

oh my goodness~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ReplyDeleteyou are rocking out with these ornaments. i love charlie brown, my fav would have to be vintage mickey mouse :) thank yoU~~
angela
My favorite Christmas movie is Elf!
ReplyDeleteHello from Minnesota! I just love your work; it took me a while to get to the comments form because I kept clicking on things... I think Rudolph is probably my favorite...because it's kind of weird and because I was a wind-up mouse that barked (from the Island of misfit toys) in a school Christmas pageant when I was little.
ReplyDeleteEeek! How about my 3 year old's NEW favorite Christmas movie? "A Charlie Brown Christmas"! She won't stop talking about it! She would love these!
ReplyDeleteCute ornaments! I have a total weakness for Charlie Brown, but I think my favorite Christmas special is the claymation Rudolph!

When I saw your give away I just HAD to enter! Just take a stroll over to my bog to see why! I have the CB tree waiting for these cuties! Needless, to say the CB Christmas special is our fave, but the Thanksgiving CB special is a close second...family tradition to sit and watch while digesting dinner! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteA Christmas Story and The Grinch are tied for my favorite :)
ReplyDeletethrouthehaze at gmail dot com

ReplyDeleteOh, it would have to be a tie between A Charlie Brown Christmas and It's a Wonderful Life-can't decide! Love the ornaments.
ReplyDeleteWhat cute ornaments! And that fabric is just gorgeous! Thanks for being so generous.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have a television growing up, so I didn't watch Christmas specials. I have a favorite Christmas book, though. Does that count? The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

Oh my but these ornaments are cute! I so hope I win! As far as my favorite Christmas tv special or movie, this is SO hard because being a child of the 60's/70's we had all the greats, like Charlie Brown, Year Without A Santa Claus (snow miser and heat miser anyone?!) as well as Rudolph and a host of other greats, as far as movies goes it is probably a tie between Miracle on 34th Street (original version only please) and It's A Wonderful Life. Yes, I love the classics!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite things a out this giveaway is finding neat new blogs and friends, and I am excited to have found yours, I am now following, I know you didn't require it to win, but I like your style and want to see more of what you do!
