Giveaway Day! (Yup, it's the Ornaments.)

So I've been blogging for a while now, and somehow I always manage to be completely oblivious to the fact that Sew Mama Sew's giveaway day is coming. Every single everloving time. This time, I caught wind last night. Phew. I was still tempted to get lazy, but I knew if I did I would later regret missing out on the fun.

And besides that, I have to celebrate/announce/getsweatyinmyarmpitsabout the fact that I've decided to re-open the old Etsy shop! (OLD. I'm talking, it's been awhile- like since before I got an iPhone and before anyone knew Mitt was a name.)

I bet you will be shocked and flabbergasted to find out that I'm selling....

....these. Are you sick of them yet? People seem to be partial to nostalgia in felt form at Christmas time. We'll see if their wallets are equally partial. Am I taking down the free pattern and tutorial for these? No way. You should still make them for yourselves and for your Christmas gifts if you want to. Just don't do other things that might be considered mean by most humans.

But for YOU today, no wallets need be involved if you would like to try to win your own set! All 7 hand stitched felt ornaments can be yours, just enter by leaving me a comment telling me what your favorite Christmas TV special was growing up. Obviously, it doesn't have to be CB, there are many good ones to choose from. I'll choose a winner at random by Friday.

A second random winner will get a full yard of this amazing fabric called Drop Cloth in Plum by Jay McCarroll for FreeSpirit.  I am lucky enough to have 2 yards of it. One for me, one for you.

If you are new here from Sew Mama Sew, I'll hope you'll take a minute to look around A Little Gray. My name is Jessica and I sew A LOT. I've got a few new Christmas patterns and tutorials on the right sidebar there, just click on the pictures to see more. I've also got some other tutorials in the tab on top, mostly related to kids clothing. I sew very often for my 2 kids Hendrix and Elsie. If you want to see some of that stuff, you should check out the things I made for the sewing and design competition Project Run & Play. Or look at the movie-inspired kids clothing I've made in an ongoing series with Kristin called Film Petit. (We have a REALLY good one coming up in the next couple weeks!!!)  I make a lot of quilts and smaller projects as well. I hope you'll poke around and make yourself known.

So thanks for coming over from Giveaway Day, I can't wait to read your comments. I'll be stitching up your ornaments while I do!

  • Leave a comment about your have Christmas movie or tv special.
  • Make sure your email address is in your comment or blogger account.
  • One entry per person, two random winners by Friday.
  • U.S. entries only please.

**** also be sure to check out the OTHER giveaway I have going on today for Go To Patterns!****

    ReplyDelete
  54. I can't remember what it's called--how ridiculous is that?--but it's the claymation one that begins with the orphaned Kris Kringle, follows him through his romance with Jessica (the future Mrs. Klaus) and introduced us to Bergermeister Meisterberger and the idea that kids pay Santa for toys with kisses. (Kind of creepy.) In a more classical tone, my favorite live action movie for the holidays is Holiday Inn.

    ReplyDelete
  55. These ornaments are adorable! I'd love them for my tree. My favorite Christmas tv show growing up was the Peanuts Christmas special. Thanks for the chance to win!

  81. Fumy you should ask, today, anyway. My favorite Christmas special was, and always will be, A Charlie Brown Christmas. And here's where the funny part comes in: I work at a big box home improvement store, and we started playing Christmas music, interspersed with the regular music, the day after Thanksgiving. Which is nice, because it's not too much of a good thing, and hopefully I won't be sick of listening to it by the time Christmas gets here. Anyway, I had just announced to my co-workers that I was going to lunch, when all of a sudden I realized that the theme song from A Charlie Brown Christmas was on. I said, "I can't go to lunch now, I have to stay until this song is finished!" (I'm 52, in case you were wondering.) My co-workers cracked up. I love that song- it instantly brings to mind lots of good childhood memories. Your ornaments are so cute! My sister would love them. (She's an even bigger kid than I am.) Thanks for the giveaway!

  141. I have so many favorites! Frosty is probably my favorite tv special! As far as oldies go, I love the original "Miracle on 24th Street". On a more recent note, one of my all-time favorite movies is "Love Actually"! Thank you so much for the giveaway!

  142. My favorite is White Christmas!

  143. "This place reminds me of Santa's Workshop! Except it smells like mushrooms and everyone looks like they want to hurt me." Elf. By a million miles.
And then all those classic claymation ones like Rudolph. I love the Burl Ives Snowman.
And I love all your xmas tuts. Your images are awesome. Thanks for sharing them all! We'll see if I can even get one done. I don't have many elves helping me out at the moment...

  144. My favorite is A Charlie Brown Christmas so these are perfect. Thanks for the chance to win.

  145. Oh, Jessica, it just is not Christmas without the original The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant. Forget that Whitney Houston mess (although Denzell is definitely easy on the eyes!) and give me the good old black and white. My favorite contemporary movie is Love Actually but I recommend Mixed Nuts with Steve Martin for you if you have not seen that quirky little nugget of cinematic escapism.

  156. Hello from Minnesota! I just love your work; it took me a while to get to the comments form because I kept clicking on things... I think Rudolph is probably my favorite...because it's kind of weird and because I was a wind-up mouse that barked (from the Island of misfit toys) in a school Christmas pageant when I was little.

  176. Oh my but these ornaments are cute! I so hope I win! As far as my favorite Christmas tv special or movie, this is SO hard because being a child of the 60's/70's we had all the greats, like Charlie Brown, Year Without A Santa Claus (snow miser and heat miser anyone?!) as well as Rudolph and a host of other greats, as far as movies goes it is probably a tie between Miracle on 34th Street (original version only please) and It's A Wonderful Life. Yes, I love the classics!

One of my favorite things a out this giveaway is finding neat new blogs and friends, and I am excited to have found yours, I am now following, I know you didn't require it to win, but I like your style and want to see more of what you do! Thanks so much for participating and for offering us all a chance to win these beautiful and fun ornaments,
